Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Department was created in the Service Welfare Office in 2017 to drive the implementation of Goal 4 in the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, 2017 \u2013 2020.<\/p>\n

Objective:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cto promote safe and convenient work environment, wellbeing and provide basic support for Civil Servants\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n

i. Co-ordinate and promote a safe and healthy work environment for Civil Servants;<\/p>\n

ii. Provide and regulate recreational and other social facilities for Civil Servants;<\/p>\n

iii. Promote International best practices in occupational health and safety in the Public Service work environment;<\/p>\n

iv. Initiate processes and programme that will promote better work place occupational health and safety for Public Servants in line with extant legislation;<\/p>\n

v. Liaise relevant agencies to promote safe work Environment for Public Servants in all MDAs.<\/p>\n

vi. Provide General guidelines for Health Safety and Environment in Public Service<\/p>\n

vii. Review all\u00a0\u00a0safety and health policies and procedures in Public Service<\/p>\n

viii. Review employee complaints regarding safety and health hazards<\/p>\n

ix. Provide secretariat for medical request by MDAs<\/p>\n

x. Promote the spirit of sportsmanship and foster unity among Public Servants through the Federation of Public Service Games;<\/p>\n

xi. Supervise Public Service Clubs for the benefits Public Servants.<\/p>\n

xii. Coordinating the affairs of Persons with Disability (PWDs) Service wide.<\/p>\n

Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Department is divided into two Divisions: Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Recreation Division, headed by Deputy Directors.<\/p>\n
